A Rebellious Heart
Patrick is in his last year of high school and while most of his peers are looking forward to the next phase of life, Patrick found himself feeling hopeless and alone.
Sadly, Patrick became an orphan at a young age. “I’ve had no one to guide me,” Patrick said. “I found myself turning to alcohol in order to cope with the many problems I’ve faced. I also turned to other terrible habits which I am too embarrassed to even mention.”
“I thought that it would be best for me to do any bad thing I wanted now, and then repent when I’m old and about to die”
Patrick hoped that all these things would help him feel better, but instead they left him feeling even more empty and without peace in his heart. As a result of all this, he did poorly in school and had to repeat classes, some even multiple times!”
Patrick thought about God sometimes, but his conclusion was always the same. “I thought that it would be best for me to do any bad thing I wanted now, and then repent when I’m old and about to die,” he said.
A Call to Salvation
One day at school, a team of preachers came to speak to at Patrick’s school. They were part of the African Enterprise Kigali Mission. “The person spoke straight to my soul,” Patrick said, “It was like he knew what I had been thinking all along! The preacher said that our time on earth is short compared to eternity. He reminded us that we should not put off accepting Christ because death can come at any time. He said we should not waste another moment in preparing our hearts.”
“The person spoke straight to my soul,” Patrick said, “It was like he knew what I had been thinking all along!”
The message was a great eye opener to Patrick and left him feeling scared for his soul. “I gave my life to Christ immediately and I now have peace in my heart,” he said. “I will not continue to walk in my evil ways but will live my life with purpose. I’m so happy that I made the decision to follow Christ! Thank you for coming, You were surely sent by God to me.”
