Kampala Mission Team Assembles

AE Admin | September 22nd, 2018

Mission in AE is an act of love and service. It consists of thousands of dedicated volunteers, donors, and prayer partners from around the world who sacrificially give of their time and money to share the love of Christ with the lost.

Volunteers arriving from Kenya

Today in Kampala, our precious mission volunteers arrived from across Uganda, Kenya and further afield. They were paired with their host families from local churches and sent off to settle in. These host families will care for our volunteers and walk arm in arm with them through Kampala streets sharing the love of Christ.

Emmanuel Wanje is one of our volunteers from Kenya. He traveled by bus for over 14 hours with 43 other volunteers to get to Kampala from his hometown of Lamu which lies on the border of Somalia. Emmanuel works in Malindi and first became involved with mission work during the 2017 Malindi Mission, hosted by AE Kenya.

Emmanuel was encouraged to join the mission when his church announced that volunteers were being called for Kampala. “I loved being a part of the Malindi mission and I’ve seen first-hand the change it made in my city and my church. I feel it is my duty to share the love of God with those who don’t know Him.” Emmanuel said. “I love ministering with AE. There is such an atmosphere of friendship and cooperation and I love meeting other people who value sharing Christ with the lost as I do.”

Emmanuel took part in AE’s evangelism and discipleship training and he now feels ready to go! “I’ve never been Uganda before but I’m excited to see many people surrender their lives to Christ.”
Tomorrow, hundreds of volunteers will gather in central Kampala to clean the streets as a symbolic gesture of service and love to the city. We’re praying that God will touch the streets of Kampala and build on the good work that was done during the mission last year.

Please continue to pray with us for the city of Kampala. Pray that our volunteers will be kept safe. Pray that God will touch the lost and the hurting in this city and that we will see His purposes fulfilled in Kampala.
