Reaching people with the Gospel is the heartbeat of African Enterprise. We’re passionate about bringing the Gospel into the everyday lives of the lost and changing the trajectory of their futures forever.
The Rubaga division is home to over 380,000 people. In order to reach the area effectively, it was vital that the local church take on the task with conviction. The churches were divided when our team began communicating with them. Some even refused to work together at all! Thankfully, God’s grace shone through and by the time the mission began local churches set aside their differences for the sake of the Gospel. Over 350 local churches were involved in the mission and nearly 400 dedicated local volunteers took up the task of spreading the Gospel throughout the Rubaga Division.
By the end of the mission, 78,243 people were reached with the Gospel and of those, 8,874 people made confessions of faith in Christ!
From Door to Door ministry, Mobile rallies and medical camps to school outreaches, pest control, and leadership events, every corner of Rubaga was touched with the message of Jesus. By the end of the mission, 78,243 people were reached with the Gospel and of those, 8,874 people made confessions of faith in Christ!
Thousands of lives have been changed forever through the Rubaga Kampala mission and we are praising God for every one of them!
Joan M was a Muslim along with her husband and small baby. When some mission volunteers came knocking on her door, she saw it as a dream come true. “Finally,” she thought, “someone is here in my home who can tell me more about Jesus!”
Finally,” she thought, “someone is here in my home who can tell me more about Jesus!”
“I have wanted to become a Christian for so many years,” she told us, “but I didn’t know how to go about it. My father was a Muslim and my mother said she was a Christian but didn’t live much differently than my father.”
“I have had a longing in my heart for so many years that Islam cannot satisfy and I wanted to know more about God, but my husband is very strict with me. I have gone to church events before in secret, but my neighbors often report me and when my husband finds out it leads to a lot of conflicts.”
When the mission volunteers asked her if she wanted to accept Christ, she did not hesitate.
“My family is now at stake because of what I have done. My husband may send me away without my child because of this decision. But my desire is to pray for my family and share this good news with them so that they might come to believe in Christ too.”
Another woman, Zara Karunji received Christ during the mission. She sells clothes in a trading center in Kampala and when a mission team approached her, she was confronted with an inner struggle that she had been experiencing for a long time.
“I’ve heard the Gospel message many times and I know that it is true but I have avoided surrendering my life to Christ because I felt that I would be giving up my freedom to have fun,” Zara said. “I always thought I would do it later. I am so happy and relieved to have made the decision to follow Christ today. I’ve waited too long and now I’m excited to join a church!”
The mission has impacted people from all walks of life including our own mission volunteers! The evangelism and theological training they received will go on to impact the way they live and share the Gospel for years to come!
Pastor Rebecca, a mission volunteer told us, “Before this training, I would say the wrong thing and be too aggressive in my approach to people. I really needed this training. Now I fumble less when I preach to people and I have more confidence. I used to be afraid to minister to Muslims but now I know that I have the knowledge to reach them!”
I really needed this training. Now I fumble less when I preach to people and I have more confidence.
The Rubaga mission has made a significant impact on this region of Kampala. Not only are the cracks in inter-church relationships on the mend, and believers encouraged in their role of fulfilling the Great Commission, but thousands of lives have been touched by the true message of the Gospel.
As we hand this labor of love back to the local churches we are thankful for what God did in this district over the last year and what He will do in the future. We’re thankful for you, our friends and partners who believed and prayed with us for this city. For those of you who gave so that someone could hear the life-changing message of the Gospel, thank you. We are so blessed by your partnership with us.
Please continue to pray for those people whom you’ve read about here and the many more whose stories we may never know. Pray that they will walk the road of faith well and pray that the church will be there to guide them as they go.
